Have you ever wondered what an account manager does?
This week we had a chat over a coffee with our Account Manager Molly who gave us an insight into her job role and what working at mooch is like. This is what she said…
So… what does a usual day consist of for you?
Every day starts with attending the daily studio meeting to schedule in new work and discuss projects with the team. The majority of my day is spent catching up with clients on current projects, briefing the studio team on new projects and discussing feedback on work and results of campaigns with clients. I always check in with current marketing publications and news, to keep up to date with anything new in the marketing world. I often pop out for a coffee with clients to catch up on projects and discuss future marketing plans which is always exciting.
What’s your favourite part of working at mooch?
I love the culture at mooch and the passion that the team have to deliver great results for clients. I enjoy nothing more than meeting with my colleagues in the boardroom to discuss new projects and brainstorm ideas.
What’s the best part of the job?
Building relationships with clients and getting under the skin of their businesses and customers. Another one of my favourite things about my job at mooch is seeing campaigns that I have contributed towards out there in a magazine or online – it’s so exciting!
Does your job role vary?
Yes, everyday is different. I love the variety of clients that we work with in different industries from fashion brands to global manufacturing companies. Some days I work on websites and digital projects, other days I work on more traditional marketing such as brochures and print adverts.
What’s working at Mooch like?
Fun! I like coming into the countryside and working in such a creatively fuelled environment. In the summer months we have barbeques in the courtyard and I love popping down to the local cafe to work through tricky briefs with my colleagues.
Do you do other tasks as-well as client liaison?
Yes! Working with a team of talented designers, developers and digital experts, we are continuously learning from each other and working collaboratively to complete projects. As well as client liaison, I get stuck into a variety of tasks including copywriting, website updates, audience and industry research, social media plans and so much more, all in a day’s work!
A top tip for anyone that wants to get into account management in the marketing and advertising sector?
Take every opportunity. From offering to do your friends businesses social media page to volunteering at a local marketing agency, you can gain experience which will be so valuable throughout your marketing career and will set you apart in an interview.

How do you think you’ve developed as a person since you started this job role?
I’ve been lucky enough to complete a number of training courses to expand my marketing knowledge and working alongside such talented people has taught me valuable lessons about the industry. Working in an agency has given me insight to a variety of sectors and given me confidence to apply my skill set to different industries.
Who would you recommend the job role to and what personality traits do you think an aspiring account manager would need to have?
Organisation is key for this role. Juggling print deadlines, with website or product launch dates can create pressure at times so I would recommend it for someone who can stay cool under stressful situations. Anyone who is friendly, bubbly and passionate about marketing and getting great results would make a great account manager.
