Last week Mark, Dan, Molly and Hannah went on a trip to London to develop a further understanding of how Pinterest advertising works and how we can use this platform to advertise our clients and agency’s products and services.
The conference was held by Pinterest, based in Covent Garden. The day was really valuable for learning more about the platform from a sponsored advertising point of view.
Did you know that 75% of Pins on Pinterest come from brands, crazy right? It’s only when you know stats like this that you start seeing how many of the Pins are sponsored!
Pinterest as a platform is inspiration based, unlike other social media platforms used for advertising. Pinterest is based on bringing everyone the inspiration to create the life they love, helping them to discover and save ideas on how to make dreams into reality.
People that use Pinterest are open minded, planners that are willing to try new things with a positive mindset. The communities that Pinterest has created use the platform when they’re actively considering what to do or what to buy next. 300m people, every month (10m of these in the UK alone) use Pinterest to figure out what’s next.
People pin and explore ideas for outfits, recipes, gym workouts, holidays and places to visit as well as home decoration, DIY projects and many more. These ideas are pinned to boards that are individual to a users interests, 4m of these ideas are saved every day in the UK. Pinterest can intelligently target the right people using it’s algorithms, leading to pinning and inspired shopping. 83% of weekly “Pinners” make a purchase based on the content they see from brands on Pinterest.
