Our longstanding client ABB is a pioneer in providing solutions in electrification, industrial automation, motion, robotics and power. Following several successful 3D product videos, ABB approached mooch with a brief for an animation to launch a brand new product that we just couldn’t wait to get our teeth into.
As part of their stainless steel conduit product range, ABB’s brand new SS Conduit Fitting can save businesses operating within the food processing industry hundreds of millions of pounds in recall costs that can occur as a result of bacteria contamination within factory settings.
In short, their new product uses easy clean laser etched labelling as opposed to traditional embossed markings that can be difficult to clean, leaving food particles on the product which can harbour bacteria growth. The problem? How to cut through industry noise and communicate this vital message to the target audience.
With the volume of video content online increasing and our average attention span decreasing, we believe that a video content has just 7 seconds to engage an audience. Our challenge was exactly that - to captivate the audience’s attention within the opening video slides to enhance user experience and increase conversions
The mooch team worked through the challenging brief and presented ABB with a storyboard that demonstrated how through the use of animation, we could communicate how the SS Conduit Fitting product range could provide solutions to their customers business problems, and save them heaps of money.
With ABB’s innovative products and solutions comes a huge amount of complex technical information. The key to nailing this brief was to present this detail in an engaging way by creating an outstanding visual experience whilst following ABB’s global brand guidelines.
The 1 minute 40 second video clip features striking visuals, impactful sound effects and stunning 3D product drawings complemented by an engaging script. The animation effectively highlights the problems that ABB’s customers face, the costly risks involved and illustrates how the product range can provide a solution.
From storyboard to showcase, our team of 3D and video experts considered every precise, intricate detail of the product. The models were created using a polygonal mesh to represent the real object within a 3D scene. The photo-realistic 3D product models were vitally important to reflect the real product in terms of shape, size, colour, reflections, shadows and product markings.
The team rendered isometric cutaway clay concept render style factory scenes to provide context to the product resulting in a high impact animation that accurately captures the real world using PBR (physically based rendering).
The animation has formed a key element of the SS Conduit product sales toolkit and is currently used on the website and at exhibitions where it is exposed to a global audience. 3D product animations increase brand recognition, engagement and ultimately, profitability of manufacturing businesses.
