Doulton manufacture a number of products from home water filter systems to portable water filter bottles, including the brand new TASTE bottle; available in various colours, giving customers access to filtered drinking water whilst on the go.
We have a valued, long-term relationship with Doulton and continue to pride ourselves on the integrated marketing services we provide, helping Doulton to increase brand awareness and educate audiences on the benefits of its products.
We created advanced 3D models to showcase Doulton products, from the brand new TASTE bottle, to home water filter systems and compact gravity fed filters.
Once the models were created, the mooch 3D artists placed the product models into real life situations to represent photorealistic situations, such as adding kitchen and outdoor backgrounds of the 3D models to promote the product in a variety of contexts.
With attention to every small detail, we modelled the products mirroring the real product structure, creating seamless visuals to create unique content for use across social media channels, the Doulton website, print marketing and at renowned home improvement exhibitions such as Grand Designs.
As a digital alternative to product photography, we wanted to explore how developing 3D drawings of Doulton’s products could help to improve user experience on it’s website. Showcasing the product range in real-life situations was top of our agenda to educate customers how they are installed.
Doulton required an extensive range of CGI’s and 3D drawings, giving them flexibility to display their entire product range and a bank of photorealistic drawings to use across a range of online and offline marketing material, without relying on product photography.
The challenge for mooch was to bring Doulton’s vision to life, working from detailed product specifications and actual product measurements. We started the 3D models from scratch, with no CAD files or drawings to base our graphics on, as opposed to basing the 3D graphic on existing models or material.
Doulton sent us their entire product range allowing us to carefully recorded precise measurements of each to ensure that the 3D drawings replicated the exact product to every fine detail. Leveraging the latest technology in the world of 3D and CGI, we created a base polygon mesh of each product. Following this, we refined it to become a high polygon mesh.
Next, the mooch 3D artists executed UV unwrapping, flattening the graphic and allowing them to add texture. Then, we created the PBR; physically based rendering, adding the specific product material and texture. Lastly using HDRI lighting; high dynamic range image lighting; we integrated the products into full 3D scenes, rendered into photography; such as placing 3D drawings of the TASTE bottle onto a kitchen worktop and inserting the gravity fed filter system into an outdoor scene. The HDRI allowed the image to include shadows and lighting taken from a 360 image of real environments.
In contrast to the previous product promotions which relied on photography, the graphics we created could be placed into various backgrounds to support written content and wider marketing campaigns. The 3D drawings and CGIs have proven a huge success to Doulton, enabling it to show the product range in multiple scenes and display each product from different angles to showcase product features.
We are pleased to work with a variety of business who operate within a range of industries and sectors.
